EMDR Therapy is a well researched and effective treatment for trauma that can also be used for some other presenting issues such as anxiety, stress, and many others. EMDR Therapy assists your brain’s natural ability to process information and heal from trauma, particularly when your natural processing has been interrupted or turned off by events in your life.
Developed in 1987 by Francine Shapiro, EMDR Therapy has been well researched since that time. It has been accepted as a treatment for PTSD by the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association as well as the Department of Defense and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
It is important to note that EMDR Therapy is a client driven therapy. That is, if we decide EMDR Therapy is clinically appropriate for the challenges you face, we will work together to honor your pace and therapeutic needs.
In 2017 I became certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy including EMDR Therapy for Complex Trauma. However, I chose to let my certification lapse in 2024 because it is unnecessary for offering EMDR as a modality.
Further, I have completed Levels 1 and 2 trainings Internal Family Systems (parts work) which I incorporate into the EMDR Therapy I offer.
I value and serve women+ of all ages and sizes, races, cultures, and ethnicities, faiths and beliefs (including none), gender identity, sexual orientations, abilities, neuro-diversities, and socio-economic statuses.
+ women identified female at birth, women identified male or some other gender at birth, gender non-conforming, non-binary
